Final Report. They really like to say thank you who support their Dadaistic music and their propaganda message. History: In early 2006, the group was formed when Shota (aka shotahirama, JANDEATH) met up with Toshitaka Ikeda and Shota Shimizu (aka Karel). They were all working at same vinyl store in tokyo when they became inspired by the manifesto of the British figurative painter Francis Bacon, his bold, austere, homoerotic and often violent or nightmarish imagery. An ideas of Francis Bacon gave these three young Japanese musician to formed radical free/spontaneous music/art ensemble, The Electronoise Group (ENG). The group that are making concrete drone sounds with their free-improv expression and the ideas from "laptop" "noise" and "Art". Using laptop, tape-operation, and tape-loop, generated guitar, the project ideal is to express the content of various psycho pathological conditions, especially depressive psychosis, and paranoia. And also making an art design, a photomontage with strong attention to Dada and Bauhaus. But Shimizu left the band in 2007 when founder member Shota wanted to take the band in more free improvisation direction.
The band also recruited two laptop artists, Okamoto and Sachio Matsuda (both left the band in 2007), who helped create the first installations of ENG in 2006 at BankART 1929 museum, Yokohama (main curator was Toshitaka Ikeda). Shunji Takami (aka shunjiTAKAMI, sighkam) joined in 2007, and was later to concentrate on the band's notorious electronic content. And first recordings of ENG in 2007, "Barcelona" was released from TecnoNucleo Label, which was a non profit label in Barcelona, Spain. ENG was initially composed of shotahirama on tape-operation, Toshitaka Ikeda on guitar and shunjiTAKAMI on laptop. Musicians were free to join in, but such collaborations were often short-lived if the contributions were lacking the proper spirit or whatever. No ENG performance is ever planned; each is unique and spontaneous. The musicians vowed never to rehearse and never to discuss what they had played.
Other musicians working with ENG included Kenta Otsuka (aka Kendrien), who were on the band's first recordings that were done in 2007, Monica Madas (aka Monooka), who toured the U.K. in 2008 with Shota and Toshitaka Ikeda, Kendrien. And the other artists who joined in ENG were: Kelly Churko (at Loop line, Tokyo 2009) Cal Lyall (at Loop line, Tokyo 2009) Taishin Inoue (at Loop line, Tokyo 2009) Blackphone666 (at Loop line, Tokyo 2009) Daisuke Kitabayashi from FPB (2008-2009) Darren McClure (at Loop line, Tokyo 2008) Yuji Kondo (at Loop line, Tokyo 2008) Emiko Shirayama (at Loop line, Tokyo 2008) Hasegawa (designing ENG's first self made cdr in 2006) Linda Bjalla (at Kasama Museum, Ibaragi 2007) Sanpo Matsumoto (at T&G Arts gallery, Tokyo 2007) Matsuoka from BAAAK BONKDOM (2007) Takano from APAP (2008) Gunji from Disk3 (at Bullet's, Tokyo 2006).
Works: The most notable recordings of ENG is "Kollaps" released on Alg-a Label in 2008. The album was dedicated to Tom Recchion (founder of L.A.F.M.S), and Steven Stapleton (Nurse with wound). Who were the most influential musicians and outsider-artists for Shota. Contains 6 tracks and mainly those were all written by Shota and Toshitaka Ikeda. ENG's music is best described as disturbing and psychologically disorienting, in noise/sound with their dadaistic, subversive philosophy. Live performances included video backing, represent surrealistic minimalism attempts to make the audience uncomfortable. Inspired by 70's 80's noise/industrial music, SPK, Throbbing Gristle, Maurizio Bianchi, Nocturnal Emissions, Esplendor Geometrico. And some Dadaistic concrete music like Nurse with wound, Smegma, AIRWAY, Tom Recchion, The Legendary Pink Dots. When shunjiTAKAMI brings in technological ideas and futurism ideas, they started to making more electro-noise, but in minimal sound. Asmus Tietchens, David Toop, some mille plateaux artists were their new ideas.

London-based Romanian singer-songwriter Monooka (also known as Monica Madas) and Tokyo-based Japanese American sound-artist shotahirama, their new works (after ENG/electronoise group works in 2008, London), coming soon...
Monooka Amazing vocals, clean chords, rhymes full of feeling. Monooka is a singer-songwriter and puppeteer. She graduated the University of Theatre and Film, UNATC-Bucharest, 2003. (all pics by my little bro, ken. thanks!) shotahirama at "the silence was warm night" presented by symbolic interaction. 2009. 11.08 at Loopline Tokyo
-text by Taishin Inoue
thank u and thank u!!!!
