Russell Haswell returns with a complete departure from his real-time computer generated improvisations (‘Live Salvage’ & ‘Second Live Salvage’). WILD TRACKS is a collection of ‘deliberate recordings’ made with other multi media / film projects in mind. These recordings do not contain any overdubs or compression, and document a wide variety of audio experiences. Taking you to a blowhole in Jamaica, inside an ant colony and to the entrance of wasp nest in Suffolk, on a helicopter ride in St. Lucia, two waterfalls in County Durham, as well as the sound of freshly fallen snow, flies being electrocuted and contributions from various military tactical airlift planes, air defence fighters and attack helicopters. The recordings on WILD TRACKS were realised using a variety of techniques including using hydro-phones to record falling snow, recording gamekeepers many fields away with a parabolic dish, as well as binaural, ‘near-field’ & ‘direct’. About Edition NIkO: Edition NIkO was founded/curated and art directed by Japanese-American sound artist shotahirama in 2007. It is a label cooperation for electronic music based in Tokyo. The main interest was to give uniting sound and art design with strong attention to scientific sequences, Dada, Bauhaus, and drone ambient sound scapes. A surrealistic minimalism. So, priority is to publish series with focus on a specific philosophy of music/ sound/ art composing. Also it is a platform for conceptional and experimental related projects in music, art and sciencemusic both by myself (shotahirama) and by other artists and musicians. All NIkO releases have been on either MP3 or CDR (mostly mp3) as I feel that these formats currently offer the most appropriate form of reproduction. But its basically, a non-profit label..... NIkO Label was closed down at the end of 2008 and reopened in January 2009 as Edition NIkO.
アートレーベル mAtter のパブリケーションに携わり、自らも shotahirama 名義にて執筆や翻訳／英訳そしてサウンドクリエーション等、文学から音楽へとスリップストリームな活動を展開するニューヨーク出身の作家、平間翔太。2010年には音楽レーベルとして原盤の企画制作及び音楽出版他、公共施設へのサウンドデザインを提供する等の事業を展開するインディペンデント・レーベル SIGNALDADA を設立。 2011年3月には「エレメント同士の衝突」をテーマに、42曲20分という独特のエディットの中で壮大な音響ヴァリエーションを描いたCDアルバム Sad Vacation を発表。そのフィールドレコーディングのコンセプチュアルな位相変換とトポロジカルな音響フォルムが「ノイズ、具体音が曲想的な音楽に」（Sound&Recording 5月号）「ドラスティックに引き裂かれる時間と空間」（音楽家 evala /port, ATAK）などと評され、大きな話題を呼ぶ。同作品のリリースツアーとして2011年9月に開催された東京公演を皮切りに京都、香港と世界各地で演奏が行われた。
また翻訳家／通訳としても活動を行う。これまでに2011年ドイツ・ビーレフェルトで劇場公開された古舘徹夫氏による演劇作品 Death Fragments - Buchner, 23 years old にて脚本英訳を担当、スイスで国内最高峰と呼ばれる芸術賞スイス・アートアワードを受賞したアーティスト Pe Lang の日本初展示にてインタビュアー／通訳として参加。2012年には東京都写真美術館が主宰する第4回恵比寿映像祭に出展された mAtter キュレーション展示 Between VISUAL and SPATIAL にインタビュアー／通訳として参加している。その他、幾つかのCD作品にてライナー、歌詞翻訳等も担当する。
