Robert Henke (ex-Monolake)' best installation ever

Performance for a matrix of 64 gas balloons, lights, and sound by Christopher Bauder & Robert Henke (aka Monolake)

A room is filled with deep, evolving noises from a four-channel sound system. An eight-by-eight array of white, self-illuminated spheres floats in space like the atoms of a complex molecule.
Through variable positioning and illumination of each atom, a dynamic display sculpture comes into being, composed of physical objects, patterns of light, and synchronous rhythmic and textural sonic events. Change, sound, and movement converge into a larger form.
The height of the helium balloons is adjusted with a computer-controlled cable, whilst the internal illumination is accomplished using dimmable super-bright LEDs, creating a pixel in a warped 8x8 spatial matrix.
The sonic events, the patterns of light, and the movement of the balloons are manipulated in real time as a 45-60 minute-long performance.

"DEEP LISTENING CHAIR" is a unique installation-festival in Tokyo, Japan. But this time we are going to Kyoto!!!! Edition NIkO is a label cooperation for electronic music based in Tokyo. And this festival is based on various programs joined together to form a trajectory over 2 days (not this time) but the festival explores the many facets of cutting-edge live electronic music and art. It provides a forum to exchange about the artistic practice underlying the electronic music scene. Festival brings together the artists that are breaking ground and shaping new standards in media and design, becoming the essential meeting point for the international scene of digital creation. NIkO festival provides insight into all culture media platforms. And featured a notable quantity of well known electronic artists over the world, while also reserving a special place for emergent laptop artists and installation artists. Dadaism, Surrealism, expressionism, impressionism, minimalism, actionism, those artists with this wonderful abstract identity, will perform and show how we can express our strong electronic arts. So, this live digital audiovisual performances and abstract installations are one of the important dimensions for this festival.

enormous O'clock is an electronic music producer who lives and works in Kyoto. A rarity in the world of beat-driven electronic music, and he is known for contributing to the development of surrealistic minimal techno with his 2008 album INFORMATION WARFAR from Ai Records (London, UK). Interspersed with irregular clicks, pops and beeps, the minimal breaks in time reveal the careful attention to detail in the depth and dynamics of his music. eO' explain him self as "ELECTRO AMBIENCE DRENCHED IN DISTORTION AND PRIMED FOR THE FLOOR".
国内外問わず数々のリリースを続けるなか、昨年イギリスのレーベルAI RECORDSから"INFORMATION WARFARE"を発表しBBC RADIO 1やその他でのオンエアーにより話題となったのが切掛で、今年も既に数々のリリースが海外等で決定している。今回"cafe independants"でのライヴセットでは彼特有の季節感を演出するだろう。

Hakobune

Hakobune aka Takahiro Yorifuji (b.1986.4), inspired by minimalism, drone and concentrated on sound landscape, Yorifuji is best known as the father of ambient music in "Kyoto new-age". Using guitar and makes deep appreciation of harmonic structure, layering sounds in textures that seem to leave the listener suspended in time. He has been released out a number of titles, and working with David Tagg in 2008 was one of his best work in his discography. Yorifuji is from a small town in Hyogo, Japan and currently resides in Kyoto.
京都市在住の音楽家。ギターを軸としたタピストリーを用いソニックランドスケープを構築する。国内外のレーベルから音源をリリース。08年7月に2ndアルバム"We Left The Window Open Sometimes"をリリースし、後にイギリスのレコードショップSmallfish Recordsが発表した2008年度ベストアルバム20に選ばれる。09年にはニューアルバムのリリースを予定。

JANDEATH

Under the name of JANDEATH, which is "Edition NIkO" founder-shotahirama' solo project. Produced sounds of vaguely danceable noise and power-electronics noise using complex mono and poly-rhythm, driving percussion, and meticulous sequencing. His main influences are from the early 1980s, with industrial acts like Throbbing Gristle, Einstürzende Neubauten and also from mille plateaux artists like SND, Alva noto, Pan sonic. JANDEATH also made extensive use of a variety of computer based sequencers, softsynths, and other applications as a means of controlling those synths and processing the synthesized sounds, using Reaktor, Processing and Elektron. He has been working with this kind of computer music, independently and in collaboration with other artists such as Zbigniew Karkowski, Incapacitants, ASTRO, since 2008. Also work with an organizing member of the Shinjuku-based Soup collective, MICLODIET in 2008, project was named MICLODEATH.

PROVOKE

PROVOKE is a multi-media group consisting of Moze and Ryota Mikami. Introduce a "political" "inaudible" "experimental" form of electronica music. Combines themes of gender, sexuality, class, linguistics, ethnicity and race.... This diversity of themes is matched by PROVOKE' wide range of production styles, which include film music, Sine-wave, digital jazz, ambient, and computer-composed neo-expressionist piano solos.
森崇博と三上良太によるユニット。音楽大学で現代音楽を学び、その後コンピューターベースでの制作に移行。映画音楽、舞台音楽なども手がけて来た。

SHARP

SHARP is an experimental music group from Osaka consisting of shinya ishimura , kazutaka tsutsui. Music without sequencers, clicks and glitches are not used as ornamental additions to the compositions but make up the essential elements of the work and these sound sources are applied to the rhythmic groove. Disparate beats and quirky samples are carefully distilled in the frequency lab, then scientifically arranged for maximum cerebral massage.
石村晋也と筒井一隆は、それぞれがでフィールドレコーディングや音響生成による楽曲、インスタレーションを制作してきた。SHARPは自分たちのソロ活動とは違ったアプローチで楽曲を制作し、ライブパフォーマンス、ダイナミズムへと回帰することを目

yuji kondo

yuji kondo (b. 1986) is a sound artist and composer from japan.
in late 2005, he started his solo project, and currently based in osaka, kyoto,,, the kansai region.
he makes compositions using computer programs, and restructure the sounds such as snow noise, sine wave, stylus tip noise, tape hiss, impulse click, field recording sources, acoustic percussion instruments, random tuning electric bass guitar tones, and voices in unconventional ways. generated materials are fed back by the matrix-switch system on daw software, and are used in music. the grand feedback landscape woven by frequency operation is as beautiful as the fog, subtle and profound.
his sound is a unique blend of electronic sounds and acoustic instruments, and the minimal and the complexities coexist there. the electronics function just as any other instruments.
he skillfully shifts the brokendown sound to listening music.
ベーシストとして活動する傍ら、徐々に騒音学に傾倒。2005年に本名義を始動、現在に至る。主にフィールドレコーディングなどの素材を扱い、それらを和音化したものを複数のチャンネルで走らせ、壮大かつ幽玄な故障音響を生成、さらに時間化する。Jun Nishimura aka JadeGardenの楽曲リミックス、ENGのオーディオヴィジュアル作品等に参加、関西を中心にライヴを行うなど精力的にその独自のサウンドを展開中。Edition NIkOからリリースされているコンピレーションへの楽曲提供もしている。

4. East Of The Sun by Andrew Chalk (1994)


Andrew Chalk has been active since 1985 as Ferial Confine and has worked with many associates over the years, such as David Jackman (in Organum), Vortex Campaign, New Blockaders, The, Darren Tate (2) (in Ora), Giancarlo Toniutti, Jonathan Coleclough, and Christoph Heemann (in Mirror). He has now released a number of releases under his own name which have won widespread acclaim, on labels such as Robot Records, Christoph Heemann's Streamline label and his own Faraway Press label. The Mirror project released a steady string of stunnng, highly sought-after records in limited quantites and Chalk's releases on Faraway Press have followed this aesthetic.-discogs
ということでまぁ、チョークが店頭に並び出して誰もが知る様になったここ１年、当時はCDなんていらない！と、あんな必死にカセットを探していたのに、あの頃を嘲笑うかの様に、最近、ちょん、と見つけました。Jonathan Colecloughデザインの９４年のカセット作品。チョークはカセットが１番。彼のサインも入ってる訳で。。ちなみに本人からもらったCDRを横流ししてもらって、当時お店で一緒に働いていたうちの本家ノイズ担当者と喜んでたっけ。

5. Faith's Favourites by Current 93/ Nurse with wound (1988)

Nurse With Wound or NWW is a British experimental music band, formed in 1978 by Steven Stapleton, John Fothergill and Heman Pathak. In 1979 Heman left the group, and in 1981 it effectly became a solo project of Steven Stapleton, with a variety of assisting musicians over the years.
Current 93 is the ongoing work of David Tibet (now known as David Michael), once a member of Psychic TV and 23 Skidoo and also the founder of Dog's Blood Order. Dog's Blood Order was David's project which preceeded Current 93.
Current 93 began in 1982, releasing a ritualistic single in the next year called LAShTAL and went on to release LPs of noisy soundscapes up through 1986. At that point, they turned to a more "apocalyptic folk" sound, with acoustic guitars and atonal vocals; yet they constantly evolve a new style with each record. Though the group is really Tibet's own, a family of ever changing musicians helps out with each release. The one musician to appear on virtually all Current 93 releases is Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound, and David Tibet in his turn has appeared on numerous Nurse With Wound releases.
Members of Current 93 have collaborated with other groups such as Coil and Death In June. In addition to this, David's record label, Durtro, has released music from Antony and the Johnsons, Shirley Collins, Nature And Organization, Tiny Tim and others.

こちらは私の人生に一番の影響を与えたノイズコンクレートの死神、NWWのstapletonと黒魔術SSWのDavid Tibet (Current 93)との８８年のコラボ作品。一応、２５００枚限定で（ちょっと多い）個人的にインダストリアルネオフォークの名作。そんなに好きな作品でもないけどジャケが大好きなのでね。

ENG (electronoise group)
Radical free/spontaneous music/art ensemble, The Electronoise Group (ENG) founded in early 2006 by Japanese-American soundArtist, shotahirama. It is a group that are making concrete drone sounds with their free-improv expression and the ideas from "laptop" "noise" and "Art".
Using laptop, tape-operation, and tape-loop, generated guitar, the project ideal is to express the content of various psycho pathological conditions, especially depressive psychosis, and paranoia. And also making an art design, a photomontage with strong attention to Dada and Bauhaus.

Monooka
She Graduated the university of theatre and film in Bucharest where she studied acting, puppeteering, music and theatre contemporary dance, working in the same time at the most important puppet theatre in Romania-Tandarica and also with choreographs for several contemporary theatre dance shows. After unversity she followed two years in MA animation film at the same school where she graduated in 2005. In 2006 Monooka decided also to start a musical project call Doina Jazzului where she combined traditional romanian songs with jazz improvisation. She worked with two young and talented jazz musicians and after a few months of performance her project was nominated at the best new act in romanian contemporary jazz music. She attended different musical styles from acoustic, funky and jazz, free improv to electronic, acusmatic-tape music as a solo artist and also in collaboration with many artists. Her unique voice and originality was the passport for a new project in London; in 2007 she presented a one women show with puppets and music at the Romanian Culture Institute. She intended to spend just a few days in London but she just felt in love by the beautiful town and she decided to stay for a while, to discover and approach new interesting links in music and arts. She started to sing in several venues as: Battersea barge, Pround Galleries Camden, Cafe Royal, Vibe Bar Brick Lane, The Spice of Life Soho, Cellar room, etc and also collaborate with local artists and musicians.
