shotahirama the man behind SIGNALDADA Records is going on Hong Kong tour, celebrating his second CD album Sad Vacation. Starring with Ediwn Lo, known as most talented and young field recordist in Hong Kong, and also graduated from School of Creative Media (SCM). And for the special guest, Wong Chung-fai from Re-Records.

shotahirama:
is a Sound Artist from New York, US and currently live in Tokyo, Japan. Inspired by Modern Art, Dada, Bauhaus and Postmodern literature. Also known for the founding of the SIGNAL DADA. His musical focus is characterized by digital synth and field recording with computer software processing and improvisation, which generates a large palette of possible sounds including; grainy textures, complex patterns of smooth drones, and microscopic clicks and cuts. (He is currently working under mAtter from early 2010.)
shotahirama released his debut CDR album “Unhappy American Lost In Tokyo” in the Hong Kong in 2010, on Re-Records. And in 2011, shotahirama released his second album which is his first major CD album “Sad Vacation” on SIGNALDADA. This record was distributed by p*dis/inpartmaint, and commented by one of most famous sound artists in Japan, evala (port, ATAK). Unique blend of cracked electronics and awkward ambient textures, sound of “Sad Vacation” received universal acclaim from both mainstream and independent publications, including Japanese music magazine Sound&Recordings. In an article previewing his soft-wear methods and claiming that “the album was making some mind blowing audio sculpture and the sounds are slowly evolve in great patches of aural beauty”.
After the release of Sad Vacation, shotahirama toured around the world, featuring dates in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hong Kong and London staging with evala (port, ATAK), miclodiet (sludge), Steven Porter (10 LABEL), and Edwin Lo.

Born in 1984. Edwin Lo is a sound artist, sound designer and field recordist form Hong Kong graduated from School of Creative Media (SCM), City University of Hong Kong. Through different explorations on sound, Edwin Lo tries to develop his own philosophy and language on sound and listening: thinking sound as an object of desire, as haunting memories and experiences.
Lo’s sound works are widely published in various places such as Hong Kong, China, Japan and Mexico. Lo’s sound works were exhibited since 2008 in various local and overseas exhibitions such as Hong Kong Sound Station (2009, Para/Site), Shenzhen&Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism Architecture 2009, SoundLab (2009, 2010), FILE 2010 – Electronic Language International Festival, EMERGEANDSEE Media Art Festival (2010), P/S Central (2010) and Hong Kong InDependent Film Festi- val 2010.
Other than his solo works, he has also participated in theatre production since 2010. His first contribution as core creative member (also with Fee Chan and Kayeun Kowk) in theatre production “Tides in Limbo” (2009) was awarded Jury Awards in Sidekick Theatre Festival. He continues his involvement in various production “My Favourite Time” (2009), “448 Things to do at 4.48” (2010) and “Woman Appetite” (2011).
